10,000 Dreams Interpreted: A Dictionary of Dreams

10,000 Dreams Interpreted: A Dictionary of Dreams

$9.95

Gustavus Hindman Miller’s groundbreaking masterwork, published nearly a century ago, remains the most compelling and thorough study of all the symbols that appear in our dreamscape. Updated, beautifully designed, and wonderfully easy to follow, it’s an invaluable source of information, and key to understanding the unconscious impulses that guide us. Miller offers an enlightening introduction to dreams in history, dream types (spiritual, mixed, and allegorical), and to prescient dreams that provide a privileged glimpse into the future. The visual symbols themselves, accompanied by an array of splendid color drawings, photographs, and boxed sidebars, are divided into elegantly logical categories, from the animal kingdom to rocks and minerals, body and soul to birth and death, food and drink to clothes and jewelry. Everything is extensively cross-referenced, making it easy to look up the thousands of dream elements and solve the mysteries buried deep in the unconscious.

3 Beacons for 7 Lighthouses of Primary Colors

Ancient civilizations used the finest stones to set into their idols, decorate their temples, and to adorn themselves. These people used all different sizes and colors of gemstones and these gemstones were set in sliver, gold and other minerals that they made metals.Gemstones made legends of both wealth and history in many parts of the world. Using richly colored gems in trading, inlaying them in jewelry, jeweled crowns, and garments were just a few ways that created that gleam and glitter when rays of light hit a stone. The play of colors giving the gemstones stunning effects. Leaders, kings, priests, medicine men, and others have put many different values on rocks and gemstones. A few of these values are monetary, symbols of great power, healing energies, spiritually and great wealth. In the world today rocks and gemstones are used as they were yet in ancient times and for many of these same reasons. Gemstones both semi-precious and precious are used some way or another by almost every age group, sex and personality. Each stone has a different energy and purpose. In some instances a thrill of excitement is felt by a person just looking at, using or owning a gemstone. Colorful and cut gemstones attract attention because of their beauty and ability to move energy levels and states of mind according to their vibration levels. This statement is also true for all of the uncut stones in the mineral kingdom.

Arts of Ancient Viet Nam: From River Plain to Open Sea

$50.5

Once a strategic trading post that channeled the flow of riches and ideas among countries situated along the South China Sea and places as far away as India and Rome, Viet Nam has a fascinating history and an artistic heritage to match it. This lavishly produced catalogue will help introduce English-speaking audiences to Viet Nam’s amazing body of artwork, ranging from the first millennium B.C. to the 18th century. The authors begin by discussing, for example, the elegant burial jars, iron axes, bronze artifacts, and jewelry of the early Sa Huynh culture; the bronze ritual drums of the Dong Son; and the jeweled gold pieces, excavated from the walled center of Oc Eo in the kingdom of Fu Nan. New scholarship investigates the trade in gold and Chinese ceramics between Cham and the Philippine kingdom of Butuan. The final section is devoted to art from Hoi An, once a major international port. Of note are the ceramic wares produced in northern and central Viet Nam from the 16th to 18th century.

$8.78

Purchase includes free access to book updates online and a free trial membership in the publisher’s book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Not illustrated. Excerpt: Aston Gill Jeffery O’Brien John Miguel Kenrick Halliday The Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic, usually shortened to the Cross Country Cycling Classic or “Cross Country” for short, is a one-day amateur cycling race held in Belize every year during the Easter holidays. It is Belize’s biggest cycling event and has begun to be recognized internationally. The next Classic is scheduled for April 3, 2010. The race normally begins at 6:00 AM (previously 5:00 AM) on Holy Saturday morning, near Mile 2 on Belize’s Western Highway, a favorite road for cycling events. Cyclists race to the western town of San Ignacio, in the Cayo District, turn there and return to Belize City, finishing at the Marion Jones Sports Complex (formerly the National Stadium) with two laps on the asphalt track. The estimated distance of the Classic is some 140 miles (some say it is closer to 145). Participation is limited mainly to amateur cyclists of any country, and cyclists from Mexico, Guatemala, Jamaica, the United Kingdom and the United States have participated. In addition to prizes awarded at the end of the race, station prizes are handed out at strategic points on the road going and coming. These prizes are usually cash donations, farm produce or certificates for trophies, jewelry and other items. Belizeans normally line the roadway to cheer on Belize’s representatives in the race. While the cyclists are pushed toward Cayo by southeasterly or even easterly winds, a combination of those same fierce winds and the usual muggy conditions of Belize in the dry season traditionally faces cyclists on the return journey. The idea for the race originated with Belizean Monrad Metzgen, who on a trip to one of the villages on the Northern Highway in 1928 … More:
